yeah, I was gonna say salt water, hot as well. Yucky, I know. I also say listerine.sp. I know thats yucky too. But when I have a sore throat, I don't care... I just want to make it feel better. Actually, you might want to go see a doctor if you have insurance. Could have strep or somthing else??? Thats kind of a long time to be dealing with this. Also try motren.... :) get better poor thing.

You should have taken Echinacea at the first sign of a sore throat. Now that it's here, you can still take it, but it's also helpful to keep your throat warm and moist, so:

1) Drink hot liquids (as others have suggested),
2) wear a turtleneck or a scarf to keep your throat warm,
3) breathe through your nose (not your mouth),
4) suck on throat lozenges, and
5) avoid talking when it's not absolutely necessary.

Take some airborne (available at local pharmacy)
Gargle light salt with luke warm (boilded then cooled down) water 4 times a day. I know you hate it but maybe you're using too much salt, you only need a very little bit, almost not enought to taste it.
Suck on some Pear seeds for 30 minutes. (granmas recipe).
Drink lots of fluids
Stay away from spicey stuff
get lots and lots fo rest

I also do the follwing which is a bit over the top for some people:
- Change sheets and towels every day
- Change toothbrush every day
- take 2 warm showers a day
- Wash my hands often

Good luck

It looks like you have some good advice. My favorite remedy is a tea called "Lemon Lift" I sweeten with honey and I gargle with it., well actually I hold it in the back of my throat and it really helps. I also buy sucrets or chloroseptic lozenges Good luck

Just mix up a little honey and add some garlic powder. The honey soothes your throat and garlic is natures penacillin. Best of luck!!

This gargle "recipe" includes salt water, but the taste is masked by the other ingredients. It is an old nurses' remedy and really works. Gargle every 2-4 hours as needed:

Equal parts warm salt water, hydrogen peroxide, and mouth wash.
