I love that song. There is another one out there, I think may be country but I don't know who sings it or the name. It is about a father giving his daughter's hand in marriage and he is telling the groom that she was his first. That he was there when she was born and for the groom to remember that in so many words....Another beautiful father daughter song.

Love it!!!
My son-in-law does also.
As one of his Christmas gifts I plan to print it on fancy paper & add a photo of him & our grand-daughter & frame it nicely.
May even match up pics somewhat to words if I feel really creative. :o)
When I flew it by my daughter she loved the idea!

And since my own Father passed away 18 years ago it has a double meaning (for me) as well.
As the first poster mentioned it is really a song for all "Daddy's Little Girls".
I know I was spoiled rotten, something my hubby mentions all the time & to which he doesn't think HE contributed to. LOL
And our daughter is rotten as well by her Dad & her GrandDad who passed away when she was young.
But she remembers that overwhelming love, a love that never dies!!!:o)

Just in case someone else wants to use the idea here are the lyrics:

MY LITTLE GIRL TIM MCGRAW LYRICS

My Little Girl

[Verse 1:]
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you, though you think you already know.
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

[Verse 2:]
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.
Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown.
Sometimes you're asleep I whisper "I Love You!" in the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say, "Daddy Love You More!".

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

[Verse 3:]
Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.
But I won't say "yes" to him unless I know, he's the half
that makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man.
I know he'll say that he's in love.
But between you and me. He won't be good enough!

[Chorus:]
Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

I love it. It puts me in the mind of ' In may daughters eyes" by Martina McBride, of-course this is a daddy's version.

yes i like it. the music video is very sweet. it almost made me cry when i saw it the first time. it makes you realize that no matter how old you get, to your parents you will always be their little girl (or boy too).
