Oh my how frustrating this must be for you. This happened to a friend of mine once and next thing she knew the neighbour was making a play for her hubby!
My advice is to deal with it promptly and do it at night when she isn't watching you. A great idea is to make a sign saying "Worlds best copy cat at work" then place an arrow towards your neighbours place!!! That should do it. If not wait a few days then add "Spot the difference" to the sign.
A great aussie solution..... rofl ... showed this to hubby and he laughed! Thumbs up he reakons.

They say immitation is the most sincere form of compliment. I wouldn't get my panties in a twist about this. However if you really want her to stop copying you perhaps you would consider ripping everything out of your garden for a season and leaving the beds empty just to see how your neighbor handles that little change. I realize that's pretty extreme but as several other people have already stated you don't want to do anything to destroy her property. You could be charged with tresspassing and destruction of property who needs that?
One of the answers I thought was the best was about getting to know your neighbor. You never know you might end up with a really good friend.

well you should rethink what your asking maybe,, remember imitation is the utmost compliment (sometimes - unless setting you up for trouble done maliciously) -- greatest form of flattery,,, if however, she uses the same materials and she points out how much better or nicer hers looks, shes just being a b*tch,, but if it does look better and she doesnt say anything to you nand you have to walk around to the other side of her house just to compare, u are being a b*tch,, but if neither of u are being b*tch and sometimes hers looks nice but sometimes urs looksw nicer just talk to her and work on things together,, u obviuosly have the same tastes,, there should be little arguing about anything really,, work with her not against her,, or hire the kid down the street to pour gas in garden near street,, lol,, gardening is too fun for that kinda crap,, goodluck have good day

I realize that someone stealing our ideas can be at best frustrating but I'd take it as a compliment.
Why don't you try striking up a conversation with your neighbor? Perhaps she needs some help in learning what to do.
There are many things I've done in my yard that came from ideas I've gotten elsewhere, modifying to suit what I want, etc.
Remember too that revenge isn't the way to go.
Hope this helps.

that is strange
other than moving there is nothing you can do except what country guy said
she must like you a lot & thinks what you do is great
don't let it upset you because it will make you sick so to speak
just try & be amused over it
because you would never have that happen again in a life time
as long as she is not being nasty
just don't do any thing that will get you into strife & make a fool of yourself
happy gardening

I had some neighbour who wou;d look into my yard and comment about anything he didnt like we had a big old cooking pot I found and put it out of the kids way on top of a little shed he said remove it appearances you know I substituted the pot with a childs piss pot and he never complained again so use your imagination find something she cant compete with.

you should get a personalised sign or flag with your last name or something on it. That way she'll have to try a little harder to find something that matches. Or you could put some sunflowers or bamboo in the background. I think a personalized flag or plaque would be harder to copy though. Good luck!!! Oh, make sure you get your christmas decorations done first!!!:)

Get a grip! Do you have any idea how petty you are being? You should be flattered she admires your gardening techniques so much that she wants her garden to look as good as yours. Obviously she has no imagination or experience so you are her guidance. That is flattery!!!Why don't you try talking to her, complimenting her work and effort, and give her suggestions to make her gardens look different from yours? Think about this-would you be happier if her gardens looked blah to drawn attention to yours? Or if she neglected her yard and it looked like ****? She is not competing, you are.

Take it as a compliment. She obviously thinks you know what looks good in a garden and possibly considers you an expert.

Take it as a compliment. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. She obviously appreciates your work and taste.
