It really seems like the Iraqis are having a fundemental break down of civilization. Do you think it (for us and them) was better if we (USA) would have left those people alone?

They are basking in the glow of democracy (or is that a burning car?).

I agree with the fact that America has failed to deliver what it promised due to BUSH's inability to do his basic homework before he attacked Iraq. He should have know better as the President of a Country the ramifications of his destabilization of Iraq. C-mon do you not remember himstanding on that WAR ship and declaring victory? Do you not rmemeber the countless times he said the WAR was being won. Just last week Kissinger said this WAR CAN NEVER BE WON!!
There is all out civil war and BUSH and his chronies are 100% to blame. 655,000 families will never be the same. Where is the civil war going to end. How many American soldiers are returning home without limbs? How can some of you still think it is all RIGHT. Fellow American we F.ed up - those who voted for an idiot should take respobnsibility with him. I did nt vote for him, and I will apologize to the world for this disgusting mess. I diagreed with the WAR from the start and I will hang my head in shame until as a COuntry we can right the wrong. This is so bad so bad so very bad.

No, the Iraqis are not enjoying their country now. Their infrastructure and political system are destroyed, there is no more law and order, people have no electricity, no running water, no gas, no jobs to go to. Nobody is safe there anymore.
3600 Iraqis killed this month alone. And the also USA would have been a lot better off to stay out of this mess.

Absolutely [we should've left them alone]. Because they (the Iraqis) never posed a threat. Nor did they ever attack any Americans. George W. Bush and his cronies cooked up this scheme in order to get into Iraq and set about gaining control of the oil flowing through the country. Not only that, but Afghanistan was a failure, Bin Laden was in Pakistan and Bush needed someone to blame.
Next stop: Iraq.
First, [we] would take out Saddam Hussein, then we would set about taking over the country. It was supposed to be so simple.
Once Saddam was captured, American forces should've pulled out and set about establishing a democratic Iraq, but instead all hell broke loose. The Iraqis started to defend their country. You had militias forming and Bush's plan was foiled. So now, Saddam is gone, but the people of Iraq are WORSE off now than they ever were.
Basically, we attacked a county that had never done anything to us and were shocked once they started to retaliate. Then on top of that, the Iraqis started to fight amongst themselves, trapping American troops in the middle of a civil war.
It's a nightmare that doesn't seem to go away.

"New Country" what does that mean? They aren't in a new country its just that their country is now occupied by our country. Sometimes the enemy you know is better than the one you don't know. As bad as it was with Saddam Hussein it couldn't have been as bad as it is now. PLUS they have lost 600,000 people in this occupation we have been staging. Soliders who come home report that these people HATE US and why not? They are dying everyday and for what? So that Bush and Co. could be a War President. I'm sure these people want us out and their country back. Unfortunately it will be a long time before they recover from the damage we have inflicted. We had no business going. They had NO links to 9/11. Bush just picked on them because he needed to look powerful. I'm ashamed that our leaders were sheep and followed him without so much as a question. It's a disgrace. We need to get our brave men and women serving our nation home and away from the cluster f*ck that Bush and Rummy created in Iraq.

I hate to think it, but Saddam actually kept all of this radical violence under dictator control. Iraqis used to, under Saddam's rule, have about 16 hours of electricity a day. Now, with our gift of democracy, they are down to two hours a day. Women used to be able to go out in public...now women, children and elderly don't risk it. Iraqis even used to have an educational system at one time, now no parent would ever chance letting their kids go to school. Look at what happened at the University....
Yeah, the Iraqis have it great, and they want us to send more homemade cookies and soccer balls.

I'm sure they're enjoying all the death and mayhem - and they have George Bush to thank for all the fun and games they're having! Just think of the miserable existence they'd have if Bush hadn't decided to take out Saddam. They'd have law and order, everyone would have a job, it would be safe to walk the streets at night, their infrastructure would be running soundly. All would be well. They should all get down on their prayer rugs daily and thank Allah or God or Whomever for the blessings bestowed upon them by "Killer" Bush.

Are you a moron? Im sure they love it. Whats not to love about a place with no Infastructure where 100-200 people die everyday. Where hundreds are kidnapped blindfolded and executed or tortured with cordless drills in thier skulls. Im sure they just looooooooove the fact that the government police force is so corrupt they couldnt protect a cup or warm piss. I bet they also love the fact that women and children are being randomly gunned downed by drive-by shooters. Whats not to love about walking out of church and being drenched in kerosene then being lit on fire.

Put yourself in their shoes, with a powerful invading country that has bombed the nation to hell and has killed as many as 650,000 people-- and that's only this time around. The 10 year embargo killed millions as well. If that were your town and your state, how would you feel-- particularly if the killed and maimed were your mother, grandmother, father and children. Is this the best America has to offer to the world? Are you?

Your question is cruel and uncalled for. There is no other way to respond.

Of course they are. Why wouldn't someone enjoy their home country being INVADED? And their people killed by those soldiers who are invading? You wouldn't like that?

Seriously, though... I think that we should actually INTERVIEW some Iraqis and see what they think. Then we'd know for sure.

I mean, have them interviewed by someone honest. Someone who will not change their words. Someone who will let them speak their true opinion.

To use a Bushism - they misunderestimated the Iraqi culture. Saddam was a tough dictator, but I think we all see now why he had to be. He was in charge of a country full of different cultures who hated each other, and he kept a lid on it.

We gave them freedom and look what they are doing with it. I think, rather than hanging Saddam, we should give him back his presidency, and the power he had, and watch how quickly everyone gets back into line.
