If you're regularly using fewer than 300 minutes per month, I'd suggest taking a serious look into prepaid. T-Mobile has a 300 min/month plan for $40, which includes nights and weekends and rollover, but after taxes and fees, you're looking at spending about $50/month or $600/yr. You will also be bound to a 1-2 year contract.

With a T-Mobile prepaid plan, you will get 6000 minutes for the same $600 and no contract. That's 500 minutes per month, and if you use less than this, your total cost will be even lower. Minutes roll over when you refill, and once you've spent $100, subsequent refills extend your account expiration by one year.
