genghis khan.

the mongol empire is the largest contiguous (different meaning than continuous) land empire known to history.

but what really makes the khan empire different is that they effectively destroyed all knowledge and culture and religion of the people they conquered by destroying their libraries and churches and by "interbreeding" with them.

they pretty much threw civilization into the "dark ages."

thus, although there have been mighty conquerors, genhis khan is the greatest because of the size of his empire and because he so effectively destroyed local culture and replaced it with his own.

this is a very simplistic answer. you should google genhis khan.

of corse that would depend on youf definition of great. scince the easiest way do determine it would be by landmass, that would be Ghengis khan.

Kublai Khan was real. he ruled Northern China (and conquered the rest of it) when the empire was split into four parts.

I wouldn't say Jesus, b/c conquering implies violence.

of course you could measure it in (km^2)/(yr*$*person) (square kilometers per year-dollar aka, the amount of space conquered for the langth of time he had and the amount of resources & troops he had.
