I can't tell u where to start but this question caught my eye. When I was 7 or 8 my grandpa built me my dollhouse. He had it so it was on a swivel stand and it would turn.It was two stories and like a Victorian style. It was my BEST present ever.He was so excited he woke me up at 5 am to see it!!I LOVED it!!My grandma helped me furnish it.SOOO much fun and love went into it.I am 39 yrs. old now and they both are dead.I tell my children the story of my FAVORITE X-MAS when I was little.I still have the furniture but not the house.GREAT IDEA to build this for her!!My grandpa did not use a kit or plans. He just used love and his own artistic genes and it came out great!Good luck to you and Happy Holidays!!

I haven't been around any doll houses in years but I've seen them on tv for $1,000 although I suspect those aren't the tin ones. When you say "build" a dollhouse, are you talking about like plans for something like a treehouse, or simply for tiny figures? It would be a lot simpler (and because kids lose interest fast) to buy a dollhouse that you and your daughter could piece together from a kit. Why put so much investment and time in something that would not be around for long or be set up for long? Wouldn't it be better to teach her how to use the computer, something useful? Anyway, here's the plans: http://www.dollhouse-miniatures.com/catalog/enter.html?lang=en-us&target=d103.html

I would look online at different dollhouses and go from there if you don't want to get technical with it. Here is a pic of a fairly simple design.

I think it's wonderful that you are doing this with your daughter. Every little girl loves dollhouses.
My dollhouse was my favorite toy as a child.
Good Luck!

well you can get basic floor plans from a Carpenter but the best thing to do is just start with all the wood you need and go on from there. you really should make it up on your because it will be the most creative.
