My roommate and I both lost our jobs within a week of each other. Now we're behind on our rent and have recieved an eviction notice. Our landlord says if we just pay it up, we're good, everything will be fine.

I came home tonight and my roommate told me that she's moving out tomorrow. I'm beyond p*ssed. She's my best friend, and knows that I don't have anyplace for me and my 3 kids to go. She's going to her sister's. Instead of helping me get her half, she's leaving it all in my lap.

My husband told her how upset I was and she said "I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I'll go talk to her." That was like 3 hours ago and she still hasn't said a word to me.

What would you do?

My husband does live with me. He moved back in about 2 weeks ago after a long separation because we're having such a rough time financially, but he's as broke as I am. He can't afford to pay her half anymore than I can. We're trying to bail ourselves out of this mess, and her up and leaving us with her share too is not helping.

This is a HUGE house. 4 bedrooms, full finished basement, dining room, livingroom, study, formal sitting room, toy room, laundry room, kitchen, HUGE bathroom...it's big enough for all of us, which is why we got the house...so we could split finances and have enough space. The 3 oldest kids share a room, the baby has his own room, me and my husband have our own room and she and her boyfriend have their own room.

She hasn't called u cuz she's avoidin u. N thats not a bestfriend, bf don't bail out on any situation. She has no concern for u n your family now that she has a place. n her boyfriend stayed with her, i'm sorry but sounds like they took advantage of your hospitality, giving them both a place to stay. If she's a real bf she'll find a way to get her half n help out. You r a good friend to her, u might have to reconsider your friendship. Hope things work out for u n family.

obivously she is not going to help you some friend she more than likely has no money and is just looking out for her self next you are going to have to borrow the money from famliy or pull it from somewhere else to cover yours and her end or take in a new roommate or friend and science you lost your job and the quickiest way for you to get money is to clean people's houses or baby sit for people cleaning houses makes more money though look for single guys who have no girl friends they have the messiest places like me
and by the way what does your husband do
becuase you won't get it from your x roomate (the money)unless there is something in it from her there has to be something for her though otherwise she will put up a fight
if all else fails and you have to move try finding a place that a single person is renting out extra rooms and crap like that not a land lord it will be cheaper although temporary then save as much as you can once you find a job then get back on your feet and get ahead so if this happens again you will be able to cover it
the best revenge on her is for you to come out sucessful

talk to her. meanwhile take your eviction to like salvation army and some churches might be able to help and maybe apply for food stamps and let them know your situtation and they have programs that might help.... ask your parents and his parents too! Got to do something. If your friend walks out on you ...how can she be your best friend? Do you know any businesses that can do a fund raiser? Common let's get in gear ... these are your kids and you got to go to any level to provide them a home ... winter is coming soon! Wish you the best and hopes this help you out!

If she doesn't help out or pay up...you might have to take her to court for her half of rent. She can't up and leave if she's on the agreement.
