Winipcfg only works on Windows 95, 98, and ME. Go to start -> run -> type in winipcfg. A new box should popup. At the top there should be a dropdown box. If you are on the PPP adapter, click on the down arrow and chose your network card. Then at the bottom there should be release and renew buttons. Click on release and make sure the IP address changes to 0.0.0.0, then click on renew to get an IP address. This won't work on 2000, XP.
On 2000 and XP go to start -> run -> type in cmd. A black box will popup. Type in "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes and a space between the g and slash) and then "ipconfig /renew". This won't work on 95, 98, ME.

The winipcfg program is available in: -
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows ME
Windows NT
Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not utilize this command.
Thats why u will not be able to run the same u can use the "ipconfig" command instead.
U can get new IP by using ipconfig command with below options :-
>ipconfig /release => Release the IP address for the specified adapter.
>ipconfig /renew =>Renew the IP address for the specified adapter.
>ipconfig /flushdns =>Purges the DNS Resolver cache.

Bring up a command prompt.
type ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew.
This instructs dhcp to release your old ip and lease you a new one. You may get back the same IP, but the routing data structures are reset.
