I love the wasy S.E Hinton wrote it. It's such a great story. I love how she described everything. You feel like you really know the characters. It's so sad though, but that's part of what makes it great.

In the beginning, I thought the book was going to be nothing but two social classes fighting it out; boy was I wrong! As I got further into the story, I loved all of the things that happened along the way, because they really could happen. It was not one of those books where they are with actual characters but strange and unreal things happen to them. The things that happen to the characters is so moving it just blew me away. My absolute favorite part was when Ponyboy found the note that Johnny left in the Gone With The Wind Book. It was so cool I almost cried!

I loved the way the book started and ended (with the whole essay assignment) and the way S. E. Hinton got into the character so well. I had no idea until the end of the book that it was a girl who had written it, let alone a high schooler. This is the only book my sister has insisted that I read (usually it's the other way around) and I'm really glad she did.

The book and the movie made me cry when I had to read it for school. I loved how Johnny tells ponyboy to stay gold and how innocent Johnny is and how he goes into the burning house. I thought it was so creative of how S.E Hinton petended to be a guy to get her book published.

Most people read this one as a teen, I was well into my 20's (possibly pushing 30) when I did.
Most story heroes seem to be more the Soc type, popular, good looks.
The fact that Ponyboy was a poor kid from the wrong side of town moved me.
His life didn't harden him, it gave him more compassion instead. He was able to see beneath the surface and see people for what they were, and he knew that we are all more similar inside even though the outside was so different.

We got to watch them film that scene after school let out...me and this girl missed the bus just to watch them and ended up having to walk 3 miles home
