The shore towns in Monmouth County are a nice place to live. You're close to the beach and boardwalks and you are approx 1 1/2 hours from NYC (easy train ride) and 1 1/2 hours from Atlantic City.

depends on what you like.
If you like easy access to NYC, try north eastern NJ - Bergen, Hudson, Essex counties.
If you like more rural go to north western NJ - Sussex, Warren counties.
There are alot of options and NJ is not the tiniest state. It depends on what you like and how close to work you want to live.
