Most folks would hire a professional to trap and relocate the critters. Look in your phone book for animal relocators or ask a local veterinarian who to call. Last year I trapped a family of six that had taken up residence under my house. Since they had to leave to get something to eat and would return at night, I made sure all places they could use to get in and out were blocked but one. Then I set a hav-a-hart trap and caught 'em one by one. I waited until daylight, then tool an old bedsheet. I held the sheet spread out in front of me, and walked slowly to the trap and quietly draped the sheet over the trap so the skunk couldn't see anything or anyone. Then I picked up the cage - you can grasp the handle though it is covered by he sheet - put the cage in my van and drove several miles to a remote country road. I stopped beside the road, set the cage on the ground, moved the sheet so I could open the door, then opened it and stood back and waited. The skunk would eventually wander out of the cage and off into the woods. It did get to be a pain 'cause I could only catch one at a time this way, but it did get rid of the skunk family. And of course, I made sure to block up the last hole under the house when the critters were all gone.

Do not try anything people tell you about things that smell (like mothballs), makes noise (like speakers or sound emitters that only they hear), flashing lights/stobe lights, as none of them will work & they are just telling you what others people have said. Anyone who has had a real pest problem would tell you this as well. I bought 100's of bug bombs/fogger & boxes of mouth balls & it did nothing but waste money.

So what does work? Traps... You have one major problem tho & that is your problem is skunks. Traps are very good at catching them, but getting them out without getting sprayed is another story. Because they are skunks it is more a risk vs money thing. It would prolly be better to pay somebody. If the price is to high & you want to do it yourself then make sure your trap is big enough. (You can go here http://www.havahart.com/default.asp & get at least the 1078 model, 1088 will work too). Cuz they are skunks you also want the trap cover (so they dont see you coming up to the trap & spray you while in it). Do not put the trap under the house (cuz then you have to go under to get it). Put it by the enterance of where they get in/out. Now you still have the problem of getting them out of the trap lol. The instructions will tell you how to do this. There are some people who would say (hint hint) that you should just fill a tub of water (hint hint) & place the covered trap in it for a couple seconds (hint hint). This is not humane & something I would never do (hint hint).

Some may deem this as inhumane, but it really is a safe way to get the skunk out without getting sprayed. Set a live trap and get a can of cat food and crush up a valium and mix it in. Check the trap often until you catch the skunk and it has been sedated. Remove trap and release the skunk, just do it quickly so that the skunk does not wake up before you can release it.

First call your animal control and if they won`t do nothing ask them if you could get a trap cage. They will show you how to use it. After you get them out enclose your openings from under your house else you may get skunks again!!

Contact the city and/or county for help. You must live deep in the country. Skunks are known rabid carriers so get help fast. Rabies is bad stuff.

stick some radio speakers under there and play rock music at them all day while you are at work. then you have to put cement blocks or something all the way around the bottom of the house so they cant get in.

Mothballs. Place them around where you think they are entering, then cover up the space when they leave. Mothballs also work for spiders and ants.

Call your local department of animal control. If they won't take care of it, they can point you towards someone who can.
