The first 24 hrs are the most painful. After that you should not even be able to feel its there unless it is bumped. After 2 weeks the majority of the pain is gone and it hurts so much less when it gets bumped. What are you cleaning it with? Antibacterial soap/provon I hope. Try also to do sea salt soaks twice a day before cleaning it. I love those soaks and I think they helped my ear heal faster. Take one cup warm water-as warm as u can stand, and one teaspoon sea salt (no iodine), mix it together and hold the cup up to your ear for 5-15 min. Your ear should feel much better after that and easier to touch when cleaning afterwords. After a couple days it should not really hurt when cleaning but I remember when I tried cleaning it the first couple days that it made it irritable afterwords. That pain will be gone soon.

Let me know if you have any more questions I will be glad to help!

They are very temperamental piercings, it's going to take about 6 months before it fully heals, and you will feel pain for at least several weeks when it is touched, moved and cleaned. That is normal.

I hope you are cleaning it with pure, salted water and not rubbing alchohol. Putting alchohol on it stops up the healing process, dries the piercing and compicates any problems.

If you're oozing any pus from the piercing, it's swelling up around the piercing, or it is bleeding after a few days, that is not normal and you should see your piercer or a doctor.

Where is it located? I have a cartilage earring and I apparently have hard cartilage. It took that guy a few weeks to heal...it woke me up at night whenever I rolled ove on it. Look into the dry healing method, it worked for me with my belly ring.

Give it more time. It was really frustrating for me because I got mine pierced on my left side which happens to be the side I sleep on every night it hurt pretty badly for about a week and I was cleaning it twice a week. After the first week it was no longer red and not sore anymore.

it rather is somewhat not that painful. i might say the therapeutic technique is probably worst than the piercing itself, which isn't even undesirable. i might recommend getting it accomplished at an surely piercing shop with a needle. i recognize human beings are telling you do no longer do it with a gun and your cartilage will shatter and all those products, and your probably thinking that their purely stupid and it won't take place to you or you would be nice. i became that way and that i finished up getting it accomplished with a gun, alongside with my halfway cartilage. do no longer do it. it rather is an extremely painful therapeutic technique. i've got had diverse problems with it coming up bumps that bleed and that have puss in them. and that they are very very very painful. Now in case you get it accomplished with a needle, you extra effective than in all probability won't have those problems. in basic terms a bite of advice. yet somewhat, it rather is over till now you recognize it. On a scale of a million-10 it became probably a 2. surely no longer undesirable in any respect and fully nicely worth it. :) purely confirm you're looking after it the way the piercer tells you to and that's going to be nice :) additionally, I recommend getting it on the ear which you do no longer sleep on. i'm stupid and have been given it on the element I sleep on so it became surely a peculiar and wonderful and annoying substitute switching the perimeters I sleep on. yet flow via with it! you will like it :) and additionally you will forget the soreness even occurred as quickly as you spot the piercing in a mirror :)

Um...it's been 24 hours. Naturally it'll still hurt; you've just a put a hole in your body, and it's adjusting to the shock it's received.

The pain will eventually calm down. Just made sure you're cleaning it and doing what the piercer instructed you to do.

If the pain gets worse, or there's pus/bleeding, then you need to be concerned.

24 hours and if you are cleaning it with alcohol it WILL still hurt, it takes a week to ten days for that to heal.
