i was 12 when i was molested and someone told me it was my fault because i didnt try to get away he told me if my dad loved me he would of taught meabout sex and show me how it worked my dad wouldnt win the father of the year award but i know now that im an adult that its not true but was it my fault i was taken advantage of and didnt get away

I was not your fault, you need to report who did this to you if you haven't already. You can report sexual assault, there is no statue of limitations on this type of crime.
There are evil people in this world, and say very mean things. Don't let there cruel words get you.

No 12 yr old can be held accountable for being molested. It was NOT your fault. The adult who did it is responsible. You should have tried to get away and as adults we know that. As a young person, fear and weird feelings set in and you get confused, not knowing what to do.
It isn't your fault. It is the crime of the molester. Victims often feel or are led to believe that they had some role in it, but that's not true. It is a way to let the criminal off the hook and transfer blame to the victim.
I repeat: IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!

It was not your fault that you were molested! I am sorry that someone so ignorant told you that. We are all responsible for are own behavior. That means that the other person was responsible for molesting you.
It is impossible to tell what would have happened if you had tried to get away. Maybe you would have been successful, maybe the person who molested you would have killed you for trying.
It might help you to get some counseling for this if you haven't already. I suspect that you haven't because the first thing a good counselor would have told you was that it wasn't your fault.

No, it is absolutely not your fault, hon. It is never the victim's fault. That guy is being a total prick... no loving father would ever show his daughter how it works. It is not your fault that you were taken advantage of. You were young and scared and probably didn't have the slightest idea of what to do. And at any rate what could you have done? NO i is most definatly not your fault! you were 12 and you had no clue over the matter. also think about it you where maybe 85-120 pounds and the other person could of been 200....not a chance you could have gotten away! do not blame your sel for what happend. it is not your fault in any way! so stop beating your self up! you did nothing wrong!!!

When your 12 you are use to listening to adults, when they do things to you inappropriately you tend not to know that its bad, or your afraid of what will happen if you do tell someone or try and get away. It isn't your fault and never was, whom ever told you that it twas your fault is a *** hole.

I'm sorry for you that you're still at a point where you need to ask that question. You said it right yourself--you were taken advantage of. You were a child, what do you think you could have done? Look at the children in your life now. If you tried to hurt one of them, do you think they would be able to stop you? Of course not.
