the north end is a great place to eat, the improv asylum is there if thats your thing, its alos a short walk from faniuel hall, you could see a comedy connection show there and stroll around a bit, its such a nice area especially in the winter with the lights .. and tourists seem to love it!!
the museum of science is always fun and its indoors, you can see an IMAX movie..
the blue man group is amazing as you probably already know..
nutcracker is playing at the opera house, the rockettes are at the wang...
dont forget the aquarium
theres a boston harbor cruise on new years eve if you havent made plans yet.. its a tad expensive at 90$ per person ..
hmm............oh there are the museums.. the mfa is kind of a typical museum, you could try the isabella stewart gardner museum on the fenway, its very beautiful and it has a relaly nice ambiance...
you should go to the commons at ngiht and walk around with all the trees lit up.. very pretty.......
anyway thats all i can think of off the top of my head.......good luck and have fun...

Try a really nice dinner somewhere on the waterfront, or maybe Capital Grille. Then hit up a bar in Fanueil Hall where they will have great parties, and you can probably see the fireworks from there as well!

Look out for the bums! But if it's really cold they'll be "bumsicles" so you won't have to worry.
