I think it's idiotic. Why spend so much money on one single night? I rather save it for college funds. *Hides from sweet sixteen people*.

well sweet sixteens are stupid because.... sixteen is a bogus age. you cant do a damn thing and you know what it is a waist of money save that money till your old enough to drink it!!!

in my mom's culture theres this thing called a quincenera, its like a sweet sixteen,. When i said i'd rather get money for college all of my relatives freaked out. so, now my birthday is on dec 11 and im going to turn 15 and everyone keeps pressuring me to have one even tho i want the college funds.. i thought noone understood.

I think they're overrated; for my sixteenth birthday, I got a bunch of spending money and just bummed the day around Seattle with my best friend. I agree with you :)

i think the reason it's such a big deal...it's about getting a car and getting older..and a good way 2 have a freakin awesome time..and to get memories..i cant wait till my sweet sixteen..

I agree. It is totally overrated!! I think you should celebrate, but it is like a wedding, you do not have to go crazy, for it to be special!
