I have a Motorola Router and Adapter that's connected via USB to my PC. It was working fine until my PC froze up and I had to do a complete erase/restore. After re-installing the adapter, it works but loses connection every 10min. Anyone know why?

If by „shut down” you mean it powers itself down, its obviously adapter problem (could be both software corruption or hardware malfunction).
If by “shut down” you mean you loose internet connection, check time of LAN DHCP lease in routers interface.

One of the most common problems with wireless adapters losing connection is a duplicate SSID being broadcast in your local area. Make sure your wireless router has a unique SSID, and not the out-of-box settings given by the setup wizards like: "linksys", "default" and "dlink".

Also check power saving mode. Goto the device manager and bring up properties to the NIC.

It's possible that either the Driver isn't installed or it needs an updated driver, which you should find on the manufacturers website
