I think the UN is a completely useless organization. In their opinion we are fighting an illegal war. Well, whatt are they gonna do? Warn us? Oooooooo, I'm soooooo scared! That is what they are doing to North Korea and Iran. If you don't stop your nuclear program then we will warn you again!

Next, in my opinion, the detainees at Gitmo have no constitutional rights. They are terrorists. None of these murderers are Americans, therefore they have no Constitutional rights. And how are we violating the Geneva Convention if they aren't soldiers? The Geneva Convention only protects people that are fighting for a nation. The terrorists don't fight for a nation, they fight for an ideal, therefore they are not soldiers, and the Geneva Convention doesn't even apply to them.

1. The UN is for liberals who want to destroy America.

2. Because liberals gave them to them in the courts. And because Republicans refused to do anything about it. Congress can tell the courts what they can and cannot rule on.

This is why we need real Republicans.

I won't get into what's wrong with the UN because that can go on forever, but let me ask you this,

If an American was held prisioner somewhere such as say, Iran, how would you expect them to be treated? Should they be protected from torture, treated humanely, given the right to due process, etc.? Or should they be detained indefinately without being given a fair chance to defend themselves from the charges of their captors?

No matter how criminal someone may act, they are should NEVER be prevented the basic rights of Habius Corpus and others which is the foundation of all civilized nations. To believe otherwise is ignorant and hypocritical.

First - UN is designed for nations to work together on problems to prevent rash and unjustified actions (like our invasion of Iraq!) But it will not work if we are all too stupid to try and get to the bottom of the problems before we take action.

Second -- I think that how we treat our prisoners says more about us than it does about them. If we refuse to allow them their rights under the Geneva Convention, we are telling the world that we are hypocrites and think we're above the law. We are telling the world that because of a technicality - they are figuting for a cause not a nation - it is okay to take away their rights.

We are a great nation, we do not have to stoop to the level of nitpicking who gets to see a lawyer depending on semantics and who they're figuting for.

the main purpose is to keep a world war from happening again.
what you here and what happens behind the sence are two different things. you don't win a battle to lose a war.

they do not have the same rights as U.s. citizen in th U.S.,
but the same rights as a U.s. citizen has under the geneva convention. all nations that are members of the u.n. ageed to rule of war in a meeting in geneva. you are right but there is regulation on terrorists, is there?

The Constitution does not give us rights we're born with them. Those men have the same rights that you do.
