I think they would be pretty upset with the current affairs in America. I'm sure Thomas Jefferson would not like the way his beloved Constitution is being abused., interpreting it so any "end justifies the means." We need to return to traditional values in this country., salute the flag in school, keep God where he has always been, and say "Merry Christmas, if we want to!

When I mention not being able to say Merry Christmas, I didn't mean myself. I meant the retailers who won't allow their "greeters" to say it. Believe me, I say what I want to say, and I am never politically correct. I am neither a Dem or Republican, I vote for the person, not the party.

They warned us about certain things and we chose not to listen and are suffering for it.
I guess they would say "I told you so".

Thomas Jefferson was a Deist and would have opposed having Christianity in the schools. I would agree, though, that he would have been upset with how the Constitution has recently been abused, particularly in the last six years.
There is nothing preventing you from saying "Merry Christmas." If you're talking about retailers preventing greeters from saying it, that is their right (and in many states, they have the right to fire you for doing it if they tell you not to). Employees are paid to do what they are told. If someone doesn't like a retailer saying "Happy Holidays," they don't have to shop there. Personally, I think the whole thing is ridiculous, but that's the business's choice, not mine.

I strongly agree with your views. I think if George Washington was still alive he would call Bush out into the street and kick is lying a.s.s. I think it is totally wrong that my son cant read the Bible or the Ten Commandments in school, but he has to sit back and watch two people of the same sex make out. I mean what is up with that? Even though technology has advanced, our bearing on self respect and the respect of others rides on the back of a dollar not on honor and hard work, putting new emphasis on the term " It is not what you know it is who you know." I like the way you think, but unfortunately we do not have the luxury of being able to make the laws. that job gets to go to the Banker's son who gets his way paved to Harvard and his education paid for, not from learning but from the "daddy" who is naive enough to write the check. By the way, are you a Democrat?

Thomas Jefferson rewrote the Bible and left out all the miracles and angels. He was not what you would consider a Christian.
And who's stopping you from saying Merry Christmas? That would be your own, self-imposed conformity to political correctness that's stopping you. We do still have freedom of speech, you know. Salam.

Jefferson said, "Let us provide in our Constitution for its revision every 20 years." Because no founder, no matter how brilliant, could have imagined the iPod! Or global warming. Or assault rifles. Or roving wiretaps. They couldn't imagine using toilet paper instead of bark!
If Ben Franklin got beamed in to visit us today, the first thing he'd say is, "You guys are still using that same old thing we wrote over 200 years ago, that we told you to revise?! That's so nuts, hemp must still be legal!"

I hope they are resting in peace, and not aware of the true situation in this world. God help. I do agree with you, though.
