No!!! I would kill for one. I know all of my friends would too... well, the guys anyway. The girls... not so much. But that is an AWESOME Christmas present. He's a 15 year old guy in 10th grade AND on the honor roll? That's unheard of. Get the kid an x-box! He deserves it.

Also, papajackelope mentioned that next year he'll just want a car. This is probably true. What my parents did for my 21yr old brother was get him a car when he turned 16, but make it his graduation present. They are going to do the same for me. Or, if you never planned on getting him a car in the first place, I guess just stick with that plan. :)

The psp 3 and the Xbox are pretty much the same except for online game playing, the Xbox is better. I own a Wii and if I wasn't a Zelda fan, I would have been very disappointed with Nintendo and I would have returned it. My grandsons, 14 & 16, own the newer Xbox and they do play online games. The youngest grandson, 9, will play either and has the old ps2 system. He would not be happy with a Wii. So, if he owns the psp3, does he play online multiplayer games? If not, then I would hold off on the Xbox till later. Hope this helps.

He's fifteen so next year he's going to want a car. The Xbox is cool, but you better be prepared to top that next time. I don't care what the professionals say. Rewarding kids, even bribing them works pretty well. But then again, I'll take everything away when mine gets an attitude. Make sure you up the ante with the next extragavant gift, like perfect attendance and the honor roll or some extra-curricular activity. Plus if he's glued to that game, you know where his butt is. lol.

At 15 years old, I'd say that is a very nice present, especially if he's been asking for it.

What makes you think the 360 is a bad idea?
If you're worried about violent games and whatnot, just check the rating on the game before you buy it.

It's not a bad idea at all! It'll give him a way to relax his mind when he's tired or stressed out. He might not concentrate on school as much after he gets it, but as long as his grades aren't dropping drastically, it's perfectly healthy. He'll be able to kick back and relax, giving his brain a little break. And video games can be good, too. Especially sports games. They can teach you math and other things, using stats and the like. I definitely think it's not a bad idea!

It's not a problem as long as he knows that if his grades drop, you will pull the plug on it. :o)

Also, make sure he makes good judgements in how much time he spends on it, instead of other productive activities.

But sometimes, we all need to just play around and relax. Kids today do that with video games.

Best Wishes,

Sue

it depends.. do you normally get him things when he makes honor roll? if you do.. he'll probably be expecting you to get him something. has he asked you for one, or do you just think that he would like one?

if you do plan on getting him one, you must make it clear to him that there is a limit for playing with it, because if you don't he might take advantage of his playing rights.

x-box would be great for your son. after all he/she studied great just to be one of the honor students in your school. Let the x-box be his/her price.
