I am a Vulkin. Spock was my father. I never had the emotions problem. O how we all wish that so many times.
Pick and choose your battles. Decide between what is worth getting upset over and gving little energy to what is not important.
Ask yourself these questions concerning your reactions to any given circumstance and sitiuation
If I say or do this will this action have any impact for the good in the big scheme of things? If your answer is yes then go for it. Somethings are just worth fighting for.
Am I just trying to prove a point about something that really will not help me or anyone else for that matter in a posirve way? If the answer is no then you be the one to defuse this situation first by becoming calm and wait for a more prudent time to share your views when both heads are cool,
It is helpful when you are alone to plan and rehearse how you would react to a given circumstance that you suspect is likely to happen. Think honestly how each response would effect the other and yourself. What would be the best way to react that would not compromise your morals and beliefs without starting emotional fires that you would have to confront that should have not started in the first place.
They old saying of "Count to ten when your mad" is a good wise truth. A few moments of silence before speaking is worth more than speaking without thinking first.
