I assume you are talking about the land hermit crabs that you can find in any pet store and not the salt water crabs that live totally in the water. Fresh water aquarium salt isn't for salt water fishes, it is for use as described on the package.
When wild hermit crabs breed, the female releases her eggs into the ocean where they become part of the nutritious foods floating therein. Not too many places you can do this in captivity. There really is no hope of breeding Land Hermit crabs in captivity without a great deal of equipment and money. Although the adult crabs live on land they spawn in the sea and the larvae develop in the sea as plankton. Feeding and caring for the babies would be mind boggling.

I use a product called instant ocean. It makes water just like sea water. The box comes with instructions on how much salt to mix with how much water. You can get conditioner at most pet shops. Just make sure it only removes the chlorine and heavy metals. You don't need one that adds stress coat. It doesn't have to be for hermit crabs either. it can be a fish or reptile conditioner it's all the same thing. Mix up some tap water with conditioner then add the salt to that.

Hermit crabs, at least the ones in my experience, are salt water critters. The aquarium salt you're referring to is probably for reef, or salt water aquarium systems.
Almost any fish or invertabrate will reproduce if the conditions it needs to thrive are met. You'll need a healthy, growing established aquarium system.
