Here's the undeniable truth though, you talk to any one who's attended a high school reunion or just been around long enough to have survived the teen years and then start running into former school mates over the years...
It's the book worms that end up HAVING IT ALL, they graduated, many of the so called popular peopl didnt, cause" uh hello school is about popularity, i dont need to study"
they got the good job/ career, they got their braces off and now have beautiful teeth, the glasses have been replaced with Lasics eye surgery or contacts they wear nice clothes drive nice cars and are the well off ones.
Boy do I wish, I wasnt the popular cheerleader, and would have studied harder ~wish I had been less popular and more focused on school. took me much longer to get on track!

its just the "order" of living creatures; its nature. You can be a "book nerd" but also be sociable, dress well and carry yourself well and have the best of "both worlds". It's an order of dominance/confidence that usually makes up the leading echelons (and attractiveness always plays a role too). Besides all that, highschool is full of drama and adolescent behavior and "politics" (I hate using such a word for amateur behavior). It's a big game and all you gotta do is ignore it and do your own thing or you can choose to play it. What you dont really care about hearing is that it gets better later, but it kind of does, becuase all those arrogent ******* from highschool have most likely made NO progression in life and are still the amateur, ignorant people the once were in highschool. Be and get smart, if you're awkward now, maybe you'll blossom to be a super attractive adult, and then you can rule the world.

Be a book nerd. Ignore the unwashed masses. Get good grades. Go to college and do well

When there is a 10 year reunion come back and see all the loser who were once the "cool kids"

Because good and bad HS situations (as they appear to you today) are ever so fleeting... As maturity envelopes everyone (someday!) those same good and bad situtations have a nasty habit of reversing on themselves in the real world...

So be ever so aware oh book worm that you are, that though you may not be in the desirable 'clique' today, you will (definitely) be their boss tomorrow...

You'll still not be in the desirable 'clique..., but you'll STILL be their boss...

So go ahead and enjoy your reading today..., and find comfort in the fact that they make fun of what they TRULY fear...

Because deep down inside themselves, they know YOU have the future in the palm of YOUR hand, (and they'll be asking you in the future, for a hand-out in theirs...)

Then they'll see TRUE class... (of course from the outside...)

Then what will YOU think of 'cliques' and 'classes'?

You'll be in a class of your own... (just as you are now!)

Because so many people are so superficial and materialistic.

Its downright ignorant and shallow, but thats how people live.

Too many people worry about name tags/labels. Who cares what that says. I buy according to how much we can afford, only because its something I like. I dont buy because its something that is "THE IN THING TO HAVE"

Wal-Mart is just as good as some of the high priced crap out there.

My suggestion to you is stay in your books, who cares if your a book nerd, at least you are better yourself then worried about impressing others. HOORAY for you!!!

Your school is a microsm of the world, there will be nice and mean people out there in teh world, thos ewho network or use the "clique" system to cut corners and get ahead, those who put others down to satisfy their insecurities, etc. Observe, think, and speak about what matters most to you when it matters, otherwise live and let live, let what other's say roll off you like water off a duck's back.

Because lots of people feel threatened being alone or without friends then they look at other people shifting into groups and feel more of a need to be a part of something, instead of taking up hobbies such as reading they look for satisfaction from other people.

you know what i like to think cliques aren't real, well not in my school...people pretty hang with whoever they want...and there's nothing wrong with being a nerd...because i happen to be one, but i still have cool friends who aren't as smart as i am....so screw what people think being a nerd is cool.....
