Absolutely yes. My daughter got me one for Christmas last year. I had been thru many other vacs. This Orek is one of their less expensive models and does not LOOK like it would be powerful, but it is GREAT. It came with the Orek iron too...and I love it, best I have ever had. Really, it is an excellent vac.

What the Oreck does have going for it (and yes, I've used one) is that it has a lot of power for its size and weight. The Oreck, for instance, is perfect for my grandmother (she'd never be able to use a Hoover or Eureka because they are so heavy and bulky).
I've also used the Oreck in a home with a dog, and I can say that it does do well picking up dog hair.
I simply recommend changing the bags frequently--as you must do with any bagged vaccum.

Oreck isnt too bad right away but as mine got older it seemed to put more dust into the air. It was about 2-3 years old when that happened.

i cant see any difference between my 400 dollar oreck and my 79 dollar yellow vac, except the oreck has to have expensive bags, and the yellow vac has a dirt cup and a little filter cup on top of that, and i can wash out the dirt cup and filter cup and no cost.

Well just from personal experience Oreck works great ........on tile, it is not a vac for carpet. the best i've found for carpet is dyson, but there are a few low end vac that are good like hoover, eureka. What ever you get make sure your able to carry and manuver it .

I know a person who swears by her Dyson, procliming nothing is better.
I've never had an Oreck (or a Dyson) so I can't give a personal opinion, only what others have said

If you suck up bowling balls and golf balls they are great! If you vacuum up dirt and debris, they might be over kill
