there is this red headed irish woman who has played in a TON of movies and i cant think of her name. and then this other famous guy who i think not sure though plays in westerns. I think they played in another movie together might be called the irish man? does anyone know who these actors might be or what the movies are?

The movie you saw was 'McLintock!', where John Wayne spanks Maureen O'Hara. The film also stars Wayne's son Patrick, and in an earlier scene he spanks Stefanie Powers, who's playing Wayne Sr and O'Hara's daughter. (Confusing, huh?)
The other film you mention with Wayne and O'Hara is John Ford's 'The Quiet Man', where he threatens to spank her but doesn't actually do so, though he does manhandle her quite a bit. There are entertaining accounts of the making of both these movies in O'Hara's recent autobiography, 'Tis Herself'.
And btw, the respondent who thinks O'Hara played Jane in the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies is a little confused. That was Maureen O'Sullivan.

I think you are talking about John Wayne, the male, and Maureen O'hara, the female lead.
John Wayne was in a lot of westerns.. I think Stage Coach was his first. Maureen Ohara also played the part of Jane in the old Tarzan Movies with Johnny Weismuller.
