Blacks have their affirmative rights. The Jews have the Holocaust. The Native Americans...have no one to acknowledge anything. Hell, I just learned that Thanks-Giving is one big lie. Natives died by the 100's that day and the whites celebrated. They were thank-ful cause they got to steal the Natives land.
Well, I think all people need to let go of everything and stop holding on so tightly to the past and open their eyes toward the future. help fellow man not because of ethnic background, but because he or she is human. That is what makes since to me. Also I think that Native Americans need their own Holiday, I being part Choctaw would rather enjoy seeing that happen. While they are at it they can give the land back to the Natives as well.

It wasn't the worst because it wasn't successful. There are still many Indians around, some in communities with internal autonomy. The Argentines (Spanish invaders) have succeeded in wiping out the indigenous populations in their country.
Why focus attention on something that happened a couple of centuries ago when there is plenty to worry about today, for example, the Dafur or the Hutu/Tutsi conflicts

Naturally the murder and destruction of a fascinating culture is a travesty , the fact it is celebrated does not necessarily imply that the celebrants condone the actions carried out by settlers , but the fact the a whole country was established on a foundation of murder and Imperialism is of course wrong , but how many countries haven't , most nations have seen wars and brutalisation of the people within those countries , the fact that America is a younger country keeps it fresher in our minds that all some things never change......

It wasnt such a big deal, A few savage redskins stood in the way of development.A development that has become the worlds flagship democracy.
Ther was no ethnic cleansing. The redskins fought to keep out the white man from building railroads. The white man fought back to build the railroads.
Yeah, I know ill get afew thumbs down from the leftist cranks who want to believe what they want to believe.Who believe that any form of success is wrong but then hypocritically reap the benefits of all they oppose.

I agree that it was one of the worst examples of government deceit and premeditated genocide on a people.
It is amazing (or not) that it has been erased from USA history and the perpetrators, one of the worst being President Jackson, after having signed a peace treaty and provided a reservation on their holy ground he later authorised the invasion of the reservation "Black Hills of Dakota" why? GOLD was found by prospectors on the land.
Sound familiar?
The lesson for the world, do not trust the USA.

Yes and one of the worst incidents was Wounded Knee. I recall seeing photographs taken after the shooting which showed what appeared to be tribal elders shot dead laying on the ground, most wearing overcoats with their hands still in their pockets. None of these men had a weapon - they were murdered by the American State.
Paramount Chief, Lord Sitting Bull was murdered by the American State.
