Most teenagers read books that they can relate to, or about themselves. Books set in high school are especially popular, and there are MILLIONS of books like this. Personally, i recommend Prep, Georgia Nicholson series, Princess Diaries series, sisterhood of the travelling pants, sarah dessen books, nicholas sparks (like the notebook, a walk to remember), go ask alice, etc. you can check out amazon.com and search teen books and you'll get a bunch of lists people have come up, listing their favorite books. also, that site allows ratings so you can see if the book is any good. Of course, there are always the teens that like different books like fantasy, comics, etc..it's just a matter of personality and taste

It may depend on where you live, but the teens that I see are reading . . actually devouring, Graphic Novels.
A graphic novel is a serious, long form type of cross over between a comic book and novel. Most of the graphic novels are artistic, thoughtful works of art. Teens are also reading the Japanese version of the graphic novel called Manga.

No flying, no tights - for teens

Some examples of graphic novels:
Bone by Jeff Smith
Clan Apis by Jay Hosler
Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things by Ted Naifeh
Maus: A Survivor's Tale by Art Spiegelman
The Golem's Mighty Swing by James Sturm
Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo
The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé
Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP
Vögelein: Clockwork Faerie by Jane Irwin and Jeff Berndt
If you've never tried reading a graphic novel . . now might be the time. ;-)

Fantasy or science fiction. I think John Marsden(he is an author) books are still popular with teenagers in Australia. Paul Jenning books are also popular. It depends on the individual teenager

i like horror. i like it whilst it particularly performs with my techniques; makes me experience ill and loopy. i like it whilst there's a large variety of gore and whilst it has particularly properly-theory-out characters. nonetheless, I even have purely study horror thoughts from Stephen King, HP Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. I even have study 'Dracula' by Bram Stoker, and 'To the devil a Daughter' and 'The Haunting of Toby Jugg' by Dennis Wheatly, yet that's no longer sufficient to have a love-affair. i like Stephen King, and no different author has come close to to the league of his writing. i think of i'm somewhat obsessed. My chum Amy thinks that Stephenie Meyer is extra effective than Stephen King, yet she hasn't study any King books, so she will't choose. I do love vampire thoughts, however the extra modern-day ones (particularly any that got here out after ''Salem's Lot') are poor. i like long-winded thoughts with deep, confusing plots and characters. i like it whilst the author attracts me in to each and all the action that is going on. as quickly as I can see each and every thing it particularly is happening, it particularly is a sturdy author which could make me see the face of a character. i'm lady. It particularly relies upon on if the e book is huge or small. although, if the e book is amazingly, very solid, i will study around 9. I study plenty at homestead, yet for college, on the beginning up of each and every English lesson, we could study for ten minutes, so because it particularly is the spotlight of my day. i like reading.
