I know it is an odd question, but I've always kinda wondered. It looks self inflicted.

Where did Seal get those facial scars?
Contrary to popular belief, the scars were caused by a disease called Lupus which Seal suffered from when he was a child. The particular strain from which Seal suffers causes blistering especially around the facial area, which when ruptured cause deep scarring.
They not the result of ritual scarification, being bitten on the face by a wolf, getting punched while wearing glasses, or being involved in a motorcycle accident (And they are some of the less bizarre reasons proffered!)

Apparently he had Discoid Lupus in his childhood, which apparently is also the reason why he's bald.

Actually he had childhood lupus.
I am the moderator of the Seal group on Yahoo!, and I can tell you this is true with 100% certainty.
