I know the Republican party isn't the hollywood thing right now but I am proud to say I am a Republican and yes I voted for President Bush both times. But my question is in regards to Senator McCain. If he were to run against any Democrat would you vote for him or the other loser? Also if he won do you think the United States of America would be better off?

The politician who used to be John McCain has devolved or been forced into being just another hack. He is in no way fit to be president of the United States.

He's an appealing candidate to moderate Democrats. He's far from a gung-ho neo-con like Prez Bush and his cronies, which makes McCain more easy to understand by those living on the east and west coasts, plus Chicago. Yet, the big question is does he have the right stuff to be president? In two years, the situation in Iraq should dictate the 2008 elections. Of course, we can't leave Iraq, yet we can't stay there either to witness the massacres. What to do? The 2008 US Presidential candidate will have to have a good answer to win election. If McCain could put forth a comprehensive plan on how to deal with Iraq without the USA losing face as it did in Vietnam, he would have a good chance of winning. Yet, some doubt if such a plan exists or ever will.

I think this news clip says it clearly:

"Nuanced and multifaceted, McCain's position on the Iraq War puts him in conflict with President Bush, most fellow Republicans and, so far, with many of his would-be White House rivals should he run for president. His position also places the Arizona senator at odds with a majority of the country, which has grown increasingly frustrated with the nearly four-year-old war that has cost more than $350 billion and resulted in the deaths of nearly 2,900 U.S. military personnel".

I don't think the U.S. would be better off if he were President. He is too much of a maverick and I don't see him being a good "listener". His view and agenda have blinded him to what the people are saying.

I'm glad we've had time to "watch" him in action. Early on, I thought he might be the Savior, but my view has changed.

So you admit McCain is a loser! Good one! Very observant of you to see what so many are missing. Which loser would I vote for? The other one as long as he is sane. Why? Because McCain is a total sell out. He allowed his family name to be run through the mud by the Bush campaign in 2000 and then kissed Bush's a** in 2004 no doubt making some deal for an endorsement for the 2008 nomination. He has no integrity for doing that. He acts sane but if you look at him and listen to him long enough the crazy creeps out and will scare the living Bejezus out of you!

I'm a Democrat, but I believe up till about a year ago, John McCain had a great chance of winning.

In the last year, however, he's gone from being against most of the President's policies to supporting them. It appears he's making a shift to the right, instead of keeping his current views. This is common with Presidential candidates, and it's unfortunate that someone who can have quite the following has given into doing that.

You should stick with what you believe, even if that means losing a few supporters, because he could have received a lot of swing-voters.

I'm not sure who is more of a loser McCain or the people who don't like him but would still vote for him because he's republican. You are all good little soldiers in the war against democracy. Lemmings into the sea, sheep to the slaughter.

McCain is another opportunist. You'll hear him say lots of things over the next year and a half. He sold out his integrity, he is no maverick, he's another republican looking for votes, period. I have lost most of my respect for McCain. He's swung too far right. He's been around the Bush administration so long he's starting to act like one of them. He'll also lose like one of them.

I'm not sure. I used to like McCain because he had moderate credentials but he is becoming more conservative. He is kind of pro-life (supports abortion in cases of rape and incest) and favors amnesty for illegals. Do you support that? He wants to put more troops in Iraq which may cost him many votes. I think he has a chance of winning but I don't know if we will be better off. I wouldn't vote for McCain.

I would vote for McCain over any Democrat in the general election, but he would never be my choice in the Republican primary.

It would really depend on who was running. I used to like McCain, but after Bush and Rove smeared him in 2000 and he just took it, I've lost a great deal of respect for the man.
