midol helps. ask your mom about it and see if she wouldn't mind you using it. as for the smell WASH EVERY DAY when you're on your period!!!! if you don't you will not be able to control the smell. how to use tampons and pads : with a pad you just peel the paper off and stick the sticky side in your panties. i don't use tampons because i've found them to be dangerous at times if people aren't careful. tampons are cleaner but you have more of a risk.
how to deal with being on your period out in public : don't worry about it. every girl goes out into public when they're on their period. make sure you start carrying a purse if you don't already and always have a good supply of pads with you.
tips : you may crave like crazy when you're on your period and get emotional or moody. you may also get bloated. midol helps for that too.

Tell your caretaker (Mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, anyone) they will probably help. Then go to the store and for your first i would suggest pads instead of tampons. Those are a little unnerving at first. With cramps, take an advil/ibprofen and take a bath/shower, if you can have a hot pad and put it on your lower abdominal area. The smell: well shower, get used to cleaning your vagina and make sure you take the trash out.
Anymore questions and message me if you want

Do you have any older female you trust and can talk to? A teacher at school or at church?
Take Midol for the cramps, soak in a warm to hot tub (not hot enough to burn or scald skin). A nice bubblebath soak will make you feel better. To avoid the smell, shower every day and wash that area with soap and water carefully. Douching is not something recommended.

I use midol for cramps and a hot water bottle. They also sell these patches that warm up its like a belt that you wear around your waist. The heat last for a few hours and the belt is thin enough to wear under your clothes. Always makes these new pads that have a moist towel attached to it. You should not smell if you bathe and change your pad often.

HI i'm 15 and to get the smell to go away is you have to use the bathroom and take a bath not shower and to stop the cramps the bath will work for that too and use only one kind of soap to wash up your part not all kinds of fragrance suck as sweet pea and things and go in the room and lay down and use lotion but baby lotion or baby oil

cramps- take advil, tylenol, something like that. should make you feel mostly better.
the smell, just keep everything fresh and clean and you should be okay. and remember, no one but you can smell that. don't worry so much about that.
and tampons, on your first period? i wouldn't reccomend that. you should wait a few cycles until you get to know your flow a little bit better. stick with pads for now.

Take a pain medicine that you take when you get a leg cramp or headache. For the first time I would use pads. Just take a shower to get rid of the pain. Don't stress too much, you will be okay.

I was lucky. Cramps didn't start until about a few more periods after, very mild smell and I don't PMS. Honestly I handled it surprisingly well my first time. It happens, we gotta start somewhere. Anyways I wouldn't worry about the first. More will come and then the true horror will start.
