when they announced the tour is wasn't buying tickets. i saw them last time right after john died, and the band sounded empty. no way was i dishing out 75 bucks to see that again. they played detroit even before the album came out and i knew they were playing alot of that in their set. their last 2 new songs, "old red wine" and "real good looking boy" were only decent at best. i've since really started like "good looking boy". i did buy the record the day it came out...........and oh man. i was blown away. roger sings and aside from a few tracks that pino paladino played bass on and a song that zak played drums, pete pretty much did the whole album himself. he did have a few other guests to play bit peices on a few songs. but man. pete blew me away.
"mike post theme" is the standout track. great lyrics in that one. ("everything is alright..........we've prayed today.......if there really is a god..........we'll get laid today") genius.
pete and rog share alot of the vocal duties on this one. one song ....oh man. pete is doing a very tom waits voice. it took me a few listens to even realize it was pete. he normally sings so soft. i can't think of the title of it, and the album isn't near by. anyways. .........the album is great. i highly recommend you pick it up. best buy has a bonus edition that comes with a 7 song live disc from a summer france show and a 6 song live dvd from the same show.
both include a great live rendition of "mike post theme"
and any readers who know who mike post is let me know. thanks

I think there are a few songs on it that are very good, and I like the choice of 2 'extended' songs from the mini-opera ... but I don't love the album. Townshend is still a brilliant writer, and Daltrey sings with a lot of soul, but sometimes when I listen it just seems sad that they waited so long, and how their voices have changed (especially Roger's).

"I'm in love with my car, got a feel foe my automobile." JK, that's from an older album "A night at the opera"
