FINALLY I am an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree (after being a long-term single parent to two disabled children) ... so ...
YES, I went out at 5AM this morning to my Nearest Military Exchange (yes, I am Retired Military too, and NO -- it is NOT a scramble like I know happened at the Circuit City or Best Buy or Target or Wal-Marts -- just everyone lines up peacefully and we wait our turns to purchase), and ... for the FIRST TIME in over a QUARTER of a Century ...
I purchased a Christmas "present" for the ONE PERSON forgotten in these many, many years of caregiving -- ME ...
and that was to replace the TV set that I had in the home -- the one that was beat up, scratched up, and ... starting to fail ...
SO ... yes, I got one of the NEW HD LCD Wide Screen TVs (at early shopping hours discounted price) -- and ... I LOVE IT!

Well, I was shopping mostly for my kids. They had a huge aqua doodle floor mat for 18 bucks that's usually around 40, so I got that, and I had to get a wedding girt for my best girlfriend who's getting married next week ( I got her the George foreman grill, the huge one. It was discounted from $90 to $40 so I thought I mad out really well.
It cracked me up though because I walked in front of a circuit city to get to target and there were these lawn chairs out front, with some blankets and a little foam cooler that looked like it had been trampled...I wondered what those people were in such a hurry to get that they didn't even pick up their belongings before charging into the store at 5 am...lol
Happy Holidays everyone.

I didn't leave my house today, but I'm Canadian. We had our Thanksgiving over a month ago, and we don't have "Black Friday" here. Our "holiday Season" store decorations are up by now, but we don't have crazy sales. But we DO have Boxing Day here, which I don't think is too popular in the States - that's when our shopping crazies come out! (It's the day after Christmas, BTW.)

Was out early with family...but just to eat and then went to some smaller Christmas shops and stuff. Didn't go to Wal-Mart or Target or anything...but did end up going to the mall later on. It wasn't as much of a mess as it would have been if we would have gone earlier...

I like that question! No, I wasn't among the 5-o'clocker's. I didn't start until after 12noon, and it wasn't very busy at all! Last night, I was looking at all the sale flyers, and i was getting so excited at the thought of saving all that money! In the end I didn't spend much, but I don't think I saved much, either...

No store ever has lured me out at 5 a.m.! Besides, I'm pretty much done with my shopping - I started over the summer!

It was just a coinky-dink for me that it is the busiest shopping day of the year. I was out gown-shopping for a Bar Mitzvah, and couldn't find a single one.
