We spent all day hanging Christmas lights only to find out that the whole strand was just barely too short. We have about 10 inches over the garage that is bare! That's too short to buy another strand for and too long to leave as is. So, that got me wondering, What do other people do when they have this problem? Should we buy another strand and take out most of the bulbs? or Should we take all the lights down and repostions them so the bare spot is less noticeable? Or is there another solution I'm missing?
Any Advice?

Thanks!

You could get a short set, like 50 bulb set, and add it to the end and double it back, or route in different direction (I don't know what your house looks like). Be creative, it would be too much of a hassle to take them all down.

You have quite a dilemma. If you have a typical husband, he is not going to take all the lights down and redo it all, because of 10". You can't get a new set and remove that many bulbs. The set won't light. There are black caps that cover lights that you don't want seen. I bought them 2 years ago at Michael's, but I haven"t seen them since. I believe they were put out by Mr. Christmas. If you can't find the caps, you could cover the extra, unwanted lights with black electrical tape.

Wouldn't it be much easier and less physically draining to just buy another set of lights and add them in?

Why would you take down what you have up there and rearrange?
Buy some more or leave it blank.

Just leave it be. How many people do you think are gonna notice anyhow?
