Why do some people say SOCCER??
I think it's just weird..........
It just doesn't seem right....
Do you agree??

it's called association football, and soccer is just derived somehow from the word association and so we call it soccer.

darn americans, they have to change everything. First soccer was known as football and then america obviously couldn't be unique and make up a name so they called their new sport football to confuse the whole world. Now for USA peeps its known as soccer, and english people and the rest of the world call it football!!!

As an American the name soccer works for me. However, comparing soccer to American football, soccer should be called football. American football should be called war or something haha.

for Americans... it's soccer. For the rest of the world it's football.
Football exist on 1815 in England (but already played by China around 2 or 3 BC) whilst American-Football exist around 1869 (American-football is directly descended from rugby football -exist 1823)

Obviously due to American's ego... it's still football to them even thou history is not on their side.

being american, soccer sounds right to me. it sounds weird to me to hear people call soccer football. maybe you should call it kickball since all you do is kick the ball around.
