7:45 isn't that fast since most of the kids in the mile runs at a high school level run about 5:30 min a mile or faster. I remember doing the mile during eighth grade and I got around 6:20 min and I am definitely not a long distance runner.
You also need to take you primary muscle type into consideration, are you a fast twitch fiber (sprinter etc) or a slow twitch fiber guy (long distance - lean body type - lean muscles).
Reading your weight and assuming you have a lean/skinny body type you could be a distance runner with training.

You sound like you've got the build of a sprinter so if I were you I'd try out the 400m, 200m & 100m sprints. If you can pace yourself well enough you could try 800m also.
I would also suggest you try out for high jump and long jump as well.

I would suggest the jumps (long, triple, high). Speed is a requirement for these events and long legs are an asset!
