why? nobody's forcing anybody to read them, and they're not hurting anybody. if someone doesn't like them, then don't pay attention to the news articles, movies, books, etc., that have been made about them. the only reason, that i can see that people would want to ban them, is because the Harry Potter books take people to a magical and wonderful and adventurous world, that in true life, does not exist. and anyway, what's wrong with that? everyone needs to escape from true life once in awhile, and in the Harry Potter books, people can do that. when J.K. Rowling wrote and is writing the Harry Potter books, she create and is creating masterpieces, that in my opinion surpass all other books, because it shows life in a new light---that life really is worth living, when some have such a bad time of it, and believe it [life] isn't worth living. nobody has to read it. everyone has choice whether or not to. i don't see what the big deal is. it's just a book about the modern world as well as a magical world, in which an orphan tries to make his way in life. what's the big deal?

The characters are equipped up round that: the goodies and the baddies to be able to communicate, and that i will't see that it really is a foul element for children, even as goodness, and the human beings on the aspect of goodness are portrayed because those who will finally win. Harry's enemies hotel to all kinds of evil issues, and they are those who free contained in the right. i do not see what's incorrect with that, and that i will't see that does any damage to children." Harry Potter isn't as possibility free as he seems, and may want to probable draw a baby into issues they don't realize - fantastically, in the adventure that they don't seem to be properly grounded contained in the recognize God! now to not indicate the hot homosexuality situation that has been "outed" concerning Potter in public those days. plenty now to not like! The Bible warns hostile to witchcraft and "different gods". Potter is so customary, you would no longer seize those topics. the majority isn't continually perfect, yet GOD is!!!

"Free people read freely." No books should be banned, regardless of their subject matter.
See http://title.forbiddenlibrary.com/ for an amusing rundown of frequently banned or challenged books. Everything from the Bible to Suess's The Lorax ("discrimnatory against the forestry industry") is in there.
The American Library Association has info about censorship and the Harry Potter books, as well as Read a Banned Book Week.

Honestly, the only reason I can see for them being banned is Christianity. And I don't want to argue with that, but I'm a Harry Potter fan, so of course I'm subjective. :)

Absolutely not. Banning books goes contrary to the very idea of freedom.

No. The only people that seem to want the books banned are heartless, unimaginative, miserable, religious zealots.

I love HP series. and a big fan. in my opinion, if should there be reasons to be banned, it must be from a religious point of view.
the elements of wizardy powers and mystical endeavours at somepoint may be viewed as violating the God's power. some may see as that.
