I was wondering if there was a birth control method that would stop my period for as long as possible. I know of the Depo shot but is there anything that will last longer that I don't need to worry about taking everyday.... I am kinda bad at remembering to take pills. So any advice?

Like I said I don't always remember to take the pills and since I have a lot of things I need to worry about when I get there I don't want to have to worry about a period or getting pregnant. I am not saying anything will happen I just want as little to deal with as possible. I heard once a women got 2 doses of the depo shot and she was fine for 6 months. I have been on the depo and am going on it again. I was just wondering if there was something else besides getting "fixed" that would help me right now.

Seasonle is the pill that puts off your period for 3 months and there is only Depo shot. Those are the two longest ones

Most women I know just take their birth control pills continuously and avoid having periods. It seems to help. The last woman that travelled with us and was worried about having a period during a trip to Italy simply used this method and didn't have a problem.

Last longer than what? The shot lasts 3 mons and my periods stopped immediately...haven't had a real period in a decade...

There's a new pill that allows you 4 periods a year...but again, it's a daily pill...otherwise, a hysterectomy is the only period stopper I know of...

Talk to your doctor. In general it's a bad idea to stop your period. Your doctor can assess whether this is an appropriate risk for you.
