I would rather buy a drill press and use it for other applications than buy a Morticer for only morticing if possible.

Yes you can. There is a drill/chisel attachment that allows you to drill holes and at the same time square them up to form a mortice. Is this what you have? Check out Fine Woodworking magazine. Try www.taunton.com/finewoodworking. They will have suppliers listed. You can simply drill out the waste and leave each end of the mortice as it comes off the drill bit, then just pare off the edges of the tenon to fit. Just use a bit that approx. the width of your tenon/mortice.

With a quality drill press you don't need an 'attachment' to make mortises. A quality set of Forstner drill bits and a 'fence' (a straight piece of wood you attach to the drill press table for accurate positioning of your work piece) is all you need (plus some sharp chisels).

Best wishes and good luck.

It isn't going to work. A drill press doesn't turn the bit fast enough, at any belt setting, to work with a Router bit. As slow as the bit would be turning it would dig in to the wood. I wouldn't even recommend trying it as when it digs in it will probably throw that piece of wood across the room. If it throws it at you it could cause a grave injury. If you have a good detail sander, patience and a steady hand you can do a pretty good round over by sanding. A lot depends on the size of the wood and how much rounding you want.

There are devices available that will convert a drill press into a mortising machine. I suspect that this arrangement is somewhat inferior to a dedicated mortiser, but hey, it cheaper.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/GuideToWoodworking
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

Yes, there is a mortising attachment. You can see them at Grizzleys on line or Home Depot used to have them.
