People should not be given, or not given, jobs baised on color. That is racist. Players need to be judged according to skill and talent.

IELOIP is on the right track, because when you get to the level of professional sports, they have to be viewed as entertainment, not business. This is due to the fact that the major source of income for them, just like in the movies, TV and music, is the fan's buying the tickets. And since fans are going to spend their money too watch the best possible athletes perform, affirmative action would only dilute the quality of sports. The fact that the best players get to play is therefore good for all involved. I can't think of anyone who would want AA in sports, either. The only time I ever hear any complaints maybe is regarding the NBA, where some narrow-minded white people complain that the league is 80% black. But in that case, those guys usually just don't follow the NBA anyway. But hey, they can watch NASCAR or hockey! LOL.

No What happens to abilities in Pro Sports arn't pro sports players judged by much more than percentage and population I don't see how affirmative action can take the place of the player's performance on a team which main goal is to be winners teams are going to pick team members according to what they can do with there athelete abilities that meets the bottom line that is to become champions please try a bit of reading on the subject of
America’s Struggle for Racial Equality I would not look to sports for what is not even of intrest to the society as a whole to really balance any thing in our country I believe we all need to understand our laws and follow them

The original concept of affirmative action excluded any notion of preference. Indeed, the concept of affirmative action was explicitly linked with the principle of nondiscrimination. It was to be affirmative action to ensure that individuals were treated "without regard to their race." There is no hint of group entitlement or proportional representation in the executive order. On the contrary, the exclusive focus is on the right of individuals to be treated as individuals. The "affirmative steps" were actions designed to ensure that individuals of all races would have an opportunity to compete on the basis of their individual merit.
William Van Alstyne, a law professor at Duke University, has stated it as well as anyone: "[O]ne gets beyond racism by getting beyond it now: by a complete, resolute, and credible commitment never to tolerate in one’s own life--or in the life or practices of one’s government--the differential treatment of other human beings by race. Indeed, that is the great lesson for government itself to teach: In all we do in life, whatever we do in life, to treat any person less well than another or to favor any more than another

The whole point of pro sports is a sport for the professionals. If there was affirmative action in pro sports it would no loger really be for professionals but for everyone.

Yes! Each pro team in every sport should be required to have one person on the team who was always picked last in gym class. And they should be required to play that person in each game - benching of the token wussy is not allowed.

@gintable No. There are actual variations between communities of individuals that cause them to extra probably to realize specific projects than others. it extremely is painfully obtrusive. No volume of practice will substitute your genetic makeup. Blacks of west African respectable can run speedier and leap bigger on usual than different communities and those innate expertise translate nicely to basketball success. Equality would not exist in nature.
