Narcotics and drugs NEVER make anything easier, if anything, they make life worse.

People begin usage because of curiosity, peer pressure, or misconceptions of how "great" they are.

I think most people start doing it at a young age when they want to fit in. Unfortunately, drugs are not usually the king of thing you can just stop. Depends on what drugs. But it sure doesn't make anything easier. Some people just do it to numb pain or pressure they are feeling and it may seem easier at the time, but it always ends up the opposite.

Probably because they're depressed, they were beaten/abused/raped as a child. Their parents might be divorced and they don't know how to deal with their problems (they are still kids after all). The only way for the to escape would be drugs. Then again the generic term drugs also includes prescription meds, which "make their life easier" which probably have just as bad if not worse side effects then illegal drugs.

From my own experience, it wasn't to make life easier when I was a teenager. It was more from a lack of anything better to do. But we lived in a teeny town with 1200 people and we weren't allowed to drive anywhere else, so that may have something to do with it.
It was also pure curiousity.....but I'm talking soft drugs (marijuana) and alcohol. We never tried any harder drugs, so I don't know the reasoning behind that one.

I guess it's because most people think it's easier to use drugs and alcohol to fix a big problem because it makes you feel better in the moment, but you usually end up feeling worse when you get off the high. We think it's going to take so much effort to actually deal with our problems, that we go for the quick fix. What a viscious circle!

THEY DON'T USE THEM TO MAKE THEIR LIVES EASIER, THEY KNOW THAT THAT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN WITH DRUGS. THEY USE THEM TO NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT HOW HARD THEIR LIVES REALLY ARE. FOR INSTANCE: MAYBE YOU HAVE A VERY STRICT FATHER WHO IS NOT ONLY FREE WITH THE BACK OF HIS HAND BUT ALSO HAS NO PROBLEM TELLING YOU HOW STUPID AND GOOD FOR NOTHING YOU ARE. WHEN HE DONE YOU ESCAPE TO A FRIENDS HOUSE, YOUR UPSET AND PISSED AT YOUR DAD. WHEN YOU GET THEIR HE BRINGS OUT A JOINT AND YOU GET HIGH. NOW NOT ONLY ARE YOU MUCH CALMER AND LESS UPSET BUT WHAT YOU DAD SAID TO YOU 20 MINUTES AGO ISN'T TRUE AND YOU CAN RATIONALIZE THIS BECAUSE YOUR NOT SO UPSET AND CAN THINK MUCH BETTER. ITS WHEN YOU USE THE DRUGS AND DON'T APPRECIATE THAT THE PROBLEMS IN YOUR LIFE DO HAVE TO HAVE DEALT WITH. DRUGS WILL NOT MAKE THEM GO Away. UNFORTUNATELY MOST PEOPLE DON'T CONTROLS THEIR DRUGS, THEY LET THE DRUGS CONTROL THEM.

They use them because consumerist life is so boring and meaningless. As Aldous Huxley pointed out, all cultures use some kind of drugs for philosophical, religious or recreational purposes. Jesus used wine. Western cultures use, alcohol tobacco, antidepressants, tranquilisers, stimulants, painkillers, mood elevators, diet pills, ADD medications etc for similar reasons. I personally consider Cannabis (marijuana) a sacrament and creative tool.

Most people that use drugs are trying to fill a void.In our modern culture it can be traced to weak parents.Parents who are too busy to raise their children and really love them.To teach them right from wrong.Chidren interpret limits placed on them as love,if their parents let them do as they wish, children interpret this as uncaring,so children keep pushing to find a limit where they can feel safe.So many parents give kids material things as a substitute, when all their kids need is love.

Narcotics are drugs and pharmacutical companies should answer this question, not teenagers or adults not connected to such companies.

They are the weekest within, they fall into pressure, they want instant gratification, their moods are always low so they want mood elevators, they cant see reality, hence escape to an unreal world. They hide behind masks in the name of fashion, because they dont like who they are, they always want to be someone else and not them selves, when confronted they would say, i dont want to loose my individuality, when in fact the teens are wearing uniforms, all are in tank tops, jeans, high heeled shoes, colored hair, all in makeups, belly bottons, tattooes. everyone is the same, they look like xerox copies. wonder what they mean by individuality?
