cut themselves? i mean ive heard some things about it giving them some sort of 'high'. is this true? why do they do it?

Because ultimately they are punishing themselves for their shitty lives. They hate themselves. The getting off on the pain and adrenaline rush comes later.

For those folk it appears that it is the sensation felt from the cut that generates endrophins.For them It is kinda like a so-called normal person having an orgasm.It is a thing that is not fully understood but it happens.

Maybe because of depression...in work, family, studies....etc....
These people wouldnt know whether they are doing the right thing or not...And they wouldnt be bothered about the difficulties they will give to their surounding peoples....Life is always a problem to everyone.....It's all in our hand to find out the way to resolve our problems...Otherwise, we can't live in this world....

Sometimes it's because they want to feel something, anything. Other times, they want to see blood, just to know they're alive and they matter. For others, they are frustrated and have no healthy way to express it, want to wreck something and your own skin is the nearest target, and the least likely to get you punished, if you can keep it a secret.

This link should help you..."self mutilation" is an ineffective coping mechanism...it does not get one high it CALMS one down actually...I have experience working with folks suffering from this problem.
