let go of your fears and just talk to him! I know sometimes it can be hard to do, but it's the only way to get to know someone.
Good luck!

Wow tough situation. I guess the first thing to do would be to give him a cute "look". You know, maybe smile at him or something. It also kinda depends if you sit by him or not. It's sorta odd when someone across a room comes over and starts randomly talking to you. If you don't sit by him, eh, no big deal but it helps.
The first thing you could do would be to ask him a question of sorts....like, "Do you know the time?" or ask him something you are both interested in...say, "Did you see that new movie that came out?"
Easier said than done. Another thing I've learned is that people talk. So maybe if your friends know that you think he's cute or something...word might spread like wildfire and he'll find out somehow..making it less awkward to talk to him.
Hope this helps, and good luck

Try giving hints that you like him like maybe staring not freakishly but enough to get his attention and that will flatter him try to find something interesting to say to him and engage in a conversation.

write down what you want to say, and you have the options wit that: learn what you wrote (may be you'll deal like that with your emotions), read him your ideas ("this week-end I think I'll learn that, I'll go there, I'll read about that, and I'll go with you to a movie, what do you say?"), or just pass him a note ("There is a new 'vernisage' at the Beaux Arts Gallery...").
[I had a friend, a girl, she wasn't able to say me that... it is not important, I understood her]
