The movie "pay it forwards" has a good example.

Wow! it's cool that you care too. You can help the world yourself by recycling, using compact fluorescent light bulbs, using detergent without phosphorus, planting trees, riding a bike instead of driving sometimes, and by doing many other little things like turning off the lights when you leave a room and not turning the air conditioning up a little. The best way to "make the world a better place" is to think globally, but act locally. You can't change the entire world yourself, so try changing and improving the ways of your friend or your family. It makes a big difference. Keep up the motivation!

Be kind to people. Do things for people that you normally say no to for your convenience, or because you don't feel like it, or don't want to, i.e., watching a sentimental movie with your Mother, get your friend's oil changed, mow your neighbor's yard too when you're mowing yours, and so on. It sounds pedestrian and kind of obvious because, well, it is. But you build on the small things. :) You can always donate to Salvation Army, Goodwill, or local charity or thrift stores. Lots of charities accept donations like clothes, money, food, toys, and so on. Very good of you to try and improve the world! Keep going!

We have to live a life based on what changes we will like to see. Living a deed is better than a sermon. We see a lot of posts that express hate for others, pick one and give them an answer that will make them think in the right direction. we may not change them but atleast they get to read something honest. There are lots of posts on religion and race, take care to help them think. Thats the best we can do.

This world would be a far better place without Tony Blair and George Bush. They seem to be the two, dictating to the rest of the world and if they don't stop soon, I can see the leaders of all the other countries, doing something about it, then where will we all be?

Get rid of the fairy tale/superstitious portions of the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judiasm) and keep the moral aspects.
Hopefully, everyone will become Deists (standard, Christian Deist, Daoist Deist, etc),
Agnostic, etc
