If the laptop is wireless free then you will need a wireless router and a usb dongle. Go for the 125 Mbps on both for improved speed and make sure the router matches your broadband connection i.e cable or ADSL.

The router plugs into your broadband line and the dongle plugs into your laptop so that it can receive the signal.

When you set it up make sure you encrypt your wireless network for security reasons and keep you antivirus & anti spyware programs up to date.

If your new laptop contains a wireless card, they you have the hardware to receive a wireless signal. What you need now is a wireless router to transmit that signal. It would connect to you broadband modem and will send out the wireless signal your laptop need to connect.

You can get a wireless router for about $50 at any electronic store, Wal-mart, etc. They will come with a set up disk and are relatively easy to configure.

You need a wireless router which cost around £40 from any decent pc shop.

There are 2 sorts... one for cable internet and one for standard adsl connections.

The router will send out the wireless signal around your home which will be picked up by your laptop.

It is advisable to set a password on your router otherwise people out in the street or near to your house will be able to 'steal' your internet bandwidth (speed) and possibly access files on both your pc and your laptop..
