I guess by the answers you are getting you know you are not "cast away." I've been a professional musician all my life. I've had to play music from all genres. There is nothing like jazz-- the classical music of America. I like a lot of things, including European classical music. But Jazz rules!
Most Rap these days is crap! But it's so easy (cheap) to make recordings these days and you don't need to know anything about music to be a rapper. A lot of money can be made if you can get a product placed, so it's not hard to understand why so many un-talented people are making rap recordings. In a few more years, things will be better.

Hey dude, i love jazz music also. Jazz is the one of the most genius genre that ever born in this universe. Jazz music for some people maybe so complicated to listen to, but that's the jazz. I love the jazz music so very much. I love like : brandford marsalis, lee ritenour, dave grusin, spyro gyra, yellow jackets and tons more bands that are really unique to explore. In the other side rap music, this music have also its unique things to explore, rap can be so famous cause that music can be accepted by people. I love rap also, even so many people say that this music is not good or something like that but for me i still love them. We have to give the respect to this music.
Keep the jazz alive!!!!

While I do listen to other kinds of music, jazz is one of the first genres of music I was introduced to (my dad's a jazz fan too), and I've been listening to it ever since. Even went so far as to get those Time-Life CDs they were selling on TV a while back - lol. So now I literally have decades of jazz (1920's - 1970's) to enjoy. Love it. :)

You are not the only one. I enjoy several genre's of music, but jazz is one of my favorite genre's to listen too. I prefer the older material or the electronic jazz aka trip hop/chill. I know this is unoriginal but Miles Davis is my favorite jazz musician. Bitches Brew takes me to another world. John Coltrane is amazing. He died too young. Dave Brubeck's Take 5 is another masterpiece. Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins are mentionables in my book. I am 27 and most of my friends make fun of me for being into jazz, but I feel I have the last laugh. I could be wrong, but I really dont see 50 Cent or Nickelback as legends. Miles rules!!!

Jazz is becoming too inaccessable to outsiders. It's time that we start revamping its image into the fresh, creative art that we hear and play TODAY.

I love jazz. But not the Kenny G type.
I only like old school rap.
The newer stuff is garbage. IMHO.
