My sophemore year of highschool. The sailing team took a trip to Maryland for a regatta. That night we all stayed in a motel and this girl that was a friend of a friend came in crying because she had gotten in a fight with her best friend. She had never been nice to me, and I actually thought she was quite a *****, but I was as nice as I could be because I knew how it felt to be treated like crap by a friend. We spent the entire ride back to Connecticut sitting together and talking, just me, her, and two other guys. We all might as well have been alone on that bus for all the attention we payed anyone else. For the rest of the year we were civil, but not really close. Little did I know that on that ride, I made the two best friends I would ever had and completely turned my life on its head. Even when I am miserable, depressed, sometimes about to hurt myself, I cant help but smile at that memory. Ill love her forever.

The Christmas that my oldest daughter turned 6 Santa brought her a brand new bike. She had never ridden a two wheeler before and she did not want training wheels on it. We lived at the top of a small incline and my husband got outside with her Christmas morning to teach her to ride her new bike. She was peddling and he had a hold of the back of the seat and he was running to keep up with her and to keep her from falling.

After he had held her steady for a while, while running beside her, she decided that she could do it on her own and asked her daddy to let go. She went barreling down the slope wobbly as could be, and crashed into the ditch beside the road at the bottom. She promptly got up. Righted her new bike and walked it back to her dad. When she reached him, she looked up and said "Well I guess I conquered that hill, didn't I?" He said yes honey I think you did.

When my son was born and was placed on my stomach. He pushed himself up on his hands looked me in the eye and gave me a great big toothless smile..I had natural birth and was given ether after seeing his smiling face...That was the last thing I saw before being knocked out......That was over 35 years ago....

Every single moment that I've spent with Sean, my Master. I love him more than life itself, and it makes me smile just to hear his name.

My first love. I think we all kind of look back on that puppy-love infatuation with a smile.
