1. A diamond is a specific type of crystal form of Carbon (contrary to what some people say and what some have answered: a diamond was NEVER coal -- the only similarity is that they both contain carbon.)
2. You cannot "make" a diamond out of a crystal.
3. You can try to cut a crystal to maybe resemble a cut diamond, but no one would ever confuse the two.
4. Crystals have certain alignments of the crystal facies along which the crystal will split -- it is along these facies that an expert will "cut" a crystal to get a specific shape.

Let's assume you don't mean to cut a crystal into the shape of a brilliant diamond like the ones in engagement rings. If that's what you want, submit a different question.
And we'll assume you don't think that cutting a crystal turns it INTO a diamond. -- that's silly.
And, I'll assume that when you say "a crystal" you don't mean a quartz crystal, or a talc crystal, or a amethyst crystal or an iron crystal or a pyrite crystal or etc etc etc, but rather that you mean you have a PIECE of "crystal" which is what lead glass is usually called. That is, a hunk of glass which is very clear like a crystal vase or so forth.
Now, how do you cut it into a diamond SHAPE?
Generally lead-crystal glass is cut by holding it up against copper wheels with _real_ diamond dust stuck into them while water flows over it to cool the cutting.
Is that what you wanted?

A crystal could be any mineral, and can't be cut "into" a diamond. A crystal could be cut into a diamond shape, but the composition would be the same, therefore a crystal can be cut into a diamond shape, but it wouldn't be considered an authentic diamond because a diamond is pure Carbon. The term "crystal" is too vague. That could mean a Quartz crystal, a Barite crystal, a Calcite crystal, et cetera.....

Well....you cant cut a crystal into a diamond per say......you can give if the shape of a polished diamond.....Diamonds are made of Coal that has been put under great pressure and heat mixed in with a lot of time. Best way i think to give a crystal a diamond cut would be to actually use diamonds to cut it and shape it. Diamonds are the hardest known material to mankind and can cut just about anything with ease.

Sadly, you probably can't (I'm assuming from your question you want to cut it to be faceted like a diamond)
Diamonds can be cut into their various faceted shapes based on their crystalline structure. They are unique in this structure.
When you see other stones faceted like diamonds, (or even glass and rhinestones) they have been shaped by a process of abrasion (grinding) and polishing.
