Really, have you seen the cartoons lately...spongebob, pokemon, what happened to all the good cartoons. All of them now seem to be insanely stupid(and not really funny)

I have to agree. When I was a kid I watched Smurfs, Fraggle Rock, Thundercats, He-Man & She-Ra, David the Knome.. I could go on. The shows my girls watch today are sometimes a little vial with their gas and booger jokes. With the exception of SpongeBob, I think it's all crap.

Maybe it was because the older cartoons were quality items that played before the movie in theaters. They also had some humor for adults mixed in with the slap stick.
Today's cartoons are just 30 minute advertisement spots for the action figures and marketing. Don't expect much from commercials.

That's because the good cartoons like Bugs Bunny were originally made for adults. . .and todays stuff is sugary and dumbed down and morally preachy. And the commercials?!?!?!? Kids today get 3 minutes of cartoon and 10 minutes of annoying commercials!!

yeah! people dont come out with their own dieas these days. its always the same thing. I remeber talking to my friends about the old disney movies that were so goood. Now its all the same thing animations of animals. Its so annoying stop withthe whole animations with naimal thingys! Well I like SpongeBob but I cant stand Danny PHantom and other shyt they play on tv these days.

You are absolutely correct.
Cartoons (in the newspapers) unfortunately are NOT funny.
They are...sometimes, interesting, sardonic, sarcastic, cynical, but mostly not funny.
I would say that 1 in a 100 are mildly funny.
Obviously they don't have to be funny to be published.
Why are the called...funnies, comics, cartoons?
They should, truthfully be called sardonics.

I don't know. All of the cartoons are now on cable. Disney and Nick. I miss the smurfs and Bugs Bunny.
