he has mantained honer roll, admitted to trying, and liking "pot", but decided to no longer smoke it becouse of the possible side effects of brain damage to himself and possibly his children. I should also add that he is not typical as far as normal kids go, he has always had a higher standard, sort of set above the rest. maybe i've pressured him too much, and he is cracking, but i know i've never expected him to achieve the impossible, everything i've expected of him has been
obtainable and i don't think that lowering my expectations in order to acommadate his brain malfuction would be benificial.

once they discover girls and instantly become brain damage, because they just started thinking with their lower brain instead.

No child is a "perfect" child. These changes can be perfectly normal as a normal teenager and he should outgrow these tendencies within the next 10 years or so.

On the other hand, sudden changes can indicate that he is experimenting with mind altering substances. It is tough to tell either way though.

He was just tired of making your world go round. Now he wants to make his go round. It's called establishing independence and he will do it at any cost even if it means acting stupid. Best thing you can do is let him have it a little at a time. If he was such a good child and you trust him, then give him some independent privleges so he can prove himself worthy of the independence he wants.

I'm not quite sure. However, remember the teenage years are hard -- your body is changing, you are trying to find yourself, and you are discovering the opposite sex. Also, being smart isn't the "in" thing among teenagers. Not doing homework, acting dumb will get a teenager more friends, and to a teenager being accepted by their peers is most important!! Encourage your teenager to do well in school, and assure him/her that they can still have friends and be smart. Good luck.

we all went trough that stage... and it is just a stage... but alot of the times it caused by reasons at school..... school causes alot reasons to act the way your sons it... friends as well and what they are into... drugs is common unfortunatly..... alot of teenagers are depressed at that age.... i has depressed for two years, and really really clinical depressed.... but it due to how peole treated me at school.... and just general situation.... i got out of it and living a successful life... many get out of it.... BUT some don't .. SOOOOO DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR SON!!!!!!!! just keep in mind that this will go away, and if you do all the right thinsg as a mother then it will!

Rebellion. That and there is nothing motivating him to succeed and no other teenager is that into it. It's simply apathy, maybe mixed with illegal substances, that cause his stupidity as you call it. He's not stupid, he's just bored.
