Male nurses are called " Nurse Assistants" and "Staff Nurses" and otherwise identical names for grades up to when they reach " Sisterhood " - here they assume the title of "Charge Nurse" to avoid being called " Sister " (or "Brother", I guess). Unfortunately, above this, as some do get, there is no male replacement for the "Modern Matron" and thats what they must put up with-.

A female surgeon is called Mrs or Miss (according to her marital status. A male version of a nursing sister is a Charge Nurse

A male sister equivalent is "brothers". Male nurses are called nurses, there is no gender bias.

Its just nurses or male nurses. They aren't as common as female nurses yet, so they don't have a special name.
